Super Fun

I just sent out the emails to my Super Fans for their exclusive sneak peek at Foretold chapter one. If you want to read it too, you still have a chance. If you join before next Saturday, I will give you the link to the chapter. The link will be removed on March 7.

I've been trying to think of what to do for the next round of Super Fan fun. If you have suggestions, please let me know.

My job is currently back on after more than a 6 month hiatus, so a lot of my time will be spent doing that. I still plan to get Foretold finished soon, but now the release date is kind of in limbo. Before summer is a high probability.

I hope.

The Cold That Would Not Leave

I've had a cold for the past week. I'm now in the Cough-My-Head-Off portion. I spent a good majority of the night coughing. My poor husband opted to sleep in the living room so he could get some sleep. (I offered to be banished to the couch, but he wouldn't allow it. Good man.) I don't get sick often, but when I do, it seems to linger to make up for that fact. I expect it to be gone by mid March...

On a happier note, I'm going to be getting ready for the first bit of Super Fan fun! There's still time to join before Saturday. And bring a friend!

Remember the Name Game?

For those of you who have read Soulless, you still have a chance to participate in the Name Game, which is helping me pick the real name of Cress, the main character of the book. I've updated the entry method for your convenience. I've had a few entries already, but I need more to make this interesting. When I have a bunch of suggestions, I'll pick my favorites and then let everyone vote. The person with the most liked name will win something!

If you haven't read Soulless yet, the ebook is only $.99 on Amazon. The print book is currently $8.08.

I've been sick this last week with a cold, which itself is not fun, but I also suffer from chronic insomnia. Put them together and you have a tired, cranky, sniffly Kacie. Hopefully things will clear up soon. I'm going to start on some different supplements to help with the insomnia as well. I can't remeber the last time I was able to sleep more than a couple of hours at a time... (It's 3:00 am and here I am posting this. I'd much rather be sleeping)

Sidetracked

I almost forgot to write a post. I was caught up in drawing a picture. I've been wanting to improve my portrait skills, so I started practicing yesterday. It's getting better, but I think I can still use some more practice. You can see what I did yesterday on my profile at deviantart.com

I suppose I'll just offer another reminder to join my Super Fan club. It's almost time for the first exclusive reveal!

Happy Valentines Day! Or not...

The holiday that isn't really a holiday. Some people hate it with a passion. I was indifferent for many years, seeing as how I didn't have a significant other. I've mentioned before that I am a shy person, which was a stumbling block for dating. I won't go into the embarrassing details of how few dates I went on as a young adult, but during those years the only Valentines I got were from my parents and the students I worked with. I'm not saying they weren't appreciated, but it just wasn't the same. Now that I'm married to the most wonderful man in the world, Valentines Day still isn't that important. I love my husband no matter what day it is and I try to show that in my actions and with my words all the time. I prefer holidays that have a deeper meaning, though I do enjoy the candy.

My husband has to work all day today, so we did most of our celebrating a couple days early. On Thursday, we went to Olive Garden. (gift cards!) There was a mix-up with our seating and we were offered a free appetizer. We choose their lasagna fritta. It was DELICIOUS!!! Yesterday, I made a coconut cream pie for my hubby, which is his favorite dessert and we watched Tangled.  Sometime today when my hubby has a break from work, he's getting something simple for me. (Dove dark chocolate) Our budget won't allow much, but that's okay. We still love each other.

For those of you who hate Valentines Day, I hope you can enjoy your weekend anyway.

Only two more weeks until my Super Fan fun starts! Don't forget to join so you can get in on the action!

A Couple More

Last post was about dragons. I mentioned there were two more I wanted to create. I did so over the weekend. First is Tolkien's Ancalagon the Black. I went through a few renditions before hitting one I liked. I think he looks magnificent.

Next is Ogorv from my Vessel series. In Taela we learn he is about the size of an adult horse and is wingless, though he has stubs on his back where a pair once were. In Foretold, you'll find out more about that.

I hope you enjoy looking at my art. I sure enjoy making it. I will share more in the future. Now it's time to face my greatest nemesis-- dirty dishes.

Dragons

I love art. Creating art and writing stories are two of my favorite things to do. There's something magical about them. They make me happy. This past week, I found myself drawing dragons. Dragons are great because it's all up to your imagination. That's also one of the problems. I have great images in my brain, but sometimes I have a hard time getting them on paper. But when I am successful, I like to share my creations. I usually like to sketch with a pencil first and then scan it to my iPad to color and add detail. Here are the three I've done so far.

Western Style

Eastern Style

This is Glaurung, a Tolkien creation.

There's another Tolkien dragon I'm going to work on next--Ancalagon The Black. I also want to draw Ogorv, the dragon from my Vessel series. Speaking of Ogorv, I just finished a scene with him in Foretold where you'll get to learn a bit more about him and his past. :)

Have a great weekend!

I've Been Thinking...

I like thinking up new ideas to engage my readers and yesterday a lightbulb went off. Granted, I don't have a great track record for participation so far, but I'm willing to give it a try. This is just the idea. I won't start it right away. Just let it simmer in your brain for now. I'd like to host a little writing contest. I want you out there to pick a scene from one of my books and rewrite it the way you want. It could be a scene you weren't all that keen on or one that you loved but want to expand. I'll probably limit it to one book at a time, starting with The Bride, and see how it goes. There will be a prize involved. I hope for it to be a nice gift card of some sort, but it's too early to tell. I also want to make it international. Now, to help things along for anyone who has not yet read The Bride, I will make it free on lulu.com for a short time. I will let you know in advance when that will be. If you're interested in this adventure, please leave a comment!

One more thing. I've decided on the first bit of secret business for my Super Fans. On Feb. 28, I will send an email to all who've joined and disclose the first chapter of Foretold, Book Three in my Vessel series. If you've been itching to know what happens next, here's your chance for a small taste. Everyone else will have to wait till it's published. If you haven't joined yet, do it soon so you don't miss out! If you haven't read Taela and/or Sources yet, you have some time to catch up.
